Strategic Partnership Delivers Life-Changing Homes for Adults with Complex Needs

We are proud to announce the successful mobilisation of two new supported living services in South Tyneside—Hedgeley Road and Concorde Way—following our acceptance onto the South Tyneside High-Need Individual Framework in 2024.

These locations are part of a broader achievement in the region, marking a major milestone in supported housing delivery, bringing forward 21 purpose-built homes designed to help adults with support needs live more independently and with dignity in their communities.

Coquet Trust was appointed as a care provider across several of the new homes. Our involvement is grounded in a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred support for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, and complex needs. Coquet Trust ensured these new homes were not just buildings, but supportive environments where people can thrive.

The mobilisation process formally began in December 2024, with the first move-in completed by April 2025 and the final transition by June 2025.

A pivotal figure in this successful delivery was Helen Rutter, Support Manager at Coquet Trust, who led the operational planning and implementation of the transition process. Helen’s leadership was instrumental in ensuring every detail—from staff readiness to the wellbeing of the people we support —was carefully managed and tailored to individual needs. Her unwavering commitment, compassion, and professionalism were consistently recognised by colleagues and partner agencies alike.

“I just want to highlight how fantastic Helen has been. I’m well aware she has been going above and beyond, her commitment, dedication and passion are exemplary and evident to see.”
Clinical Lead Nurse

Under Helen’s guidance, Coquet Trust developed person-led transition plans for each tenant in close coordination with local commissioners, clinicians, social workers, and families. Their mobilisation model included:

  • Weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to ensure integrated, personalised support.
  • Thorough pre-move planning, including familiarisation visits and seamless continuity of care.
  • Recruitment and induction of 40–55 highly trained staff to provide tailored, complex care from day one.

Already, tenants are experiencing the benefits of this collaborative approach. Some have begun attending college courses and local activity groups, while others are enjoying the stability and comfort of homes specifically adapted to meet their needs.

“Helen in particular has been very ‘hands on’—she has been there to support the support workers with some very complex people. This has led to support workers remaining engaged even when things have been difficult. Helen has ensured that she has communicated information to the MDT to keep them in the loop at all times. I feel confident that Coquet Trust will continue to provide the care to a complex group of individuals.”

“This project has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing people thrive in their new homes, reconnect with their communities, and begin new chapters in their lives is exactly why we do this work. I’m proud of what our team has achieved and grateful for the partnership and trust shown by everyone involved.”
Helen Rutter, Support Manager, Coquet Trust

This achievement reflects Coquet Trust’s broader commitment to person-centred care, workforce excellence, and strategic partnership working. More than just a housing scheme, this project is a testament to what can be achieved through thoughtful planning, co-production, and community-driven values.

“This is not just about buildings. It’s about creating opportunity, dignity, and connection. It’s about transforming lives.”
Amin Mazloom, Head of Business Development, Coquet Trust

We believe this success reflects our commitment to person-centred delivery, workforce excellence, and strategic partnership working. This milestone reaffirms Coquet Trust’s readiness and capability to respond to the needs of local systems and the people they serve.
